Dear Name of Manager:

I'm writing to resign from my job. I've enjoyed working at Smith Company. But, I have found an opportunity that will give me experience using several skills that I can't apply in my current job. My last day is (two weeks from the date of the letter).

I will miss working with you as you have been a good mentor and encouraged me to continue to develop my skills. I have also enjoyed working with most of my coworkers. Smith Company customers were fun to serve and I will miss them, too.

I'll watch as you continue to offer successful service to my favorite customers. If I can help you train my successor or answer any questions that will help you train my replacement, please let me know.

I don't mean to leave you short handed and I have written out the most common procedures that I followed in my job. I'm willing to do whatever I can to help.

Dear Mark,

When I notified Human Resources that I was thinking about leaving my job, they asked me to put my resignation in writing addressed to you, my manager.

This is to let you know that sad day has arrived. Consider this letter my two week's notice that I am resigning from my job.

I have found that working full time with new twin babies is just not working for me. I inquired about any part-time opportunities and there are none currently. I appreciate how willing and kind both you and HR have been in trying to work with me as I take on a new mom's responsibilities - in double.

I have appreciated the FMLA time and the extended leaves of absence that you provided in hopes that I would be able to manage it all. I haven't figured out how to do that with the twins so young. And, as you know, I have no family locally to provide that safety net that new parents need.

Working with you has been a terrific experience and my coworkers are lovely people. That is why I am sad as I give you my resignation. I had truly hoped that I could manage to do it all. You did all you could to help me do it all, too. For that, I will forever be grateful.

Please let me know how I can help transition my work to my replacement or the people who will share it while you look for my replacement. I want to leave this position with good feelings about me as an employee because I'm sure my life will change again as the twins grow.

I definitely see myself returning to the workplace in a couple of years.

Thank you for all that you have done to help me. I wouldn't have made it this far without the help I've received since the birth of my twins.

Dear Mr Mardoff,

I am writing to formally inform you of my resignation from my current job title as a Human Resource Manager with Lanterns Enterprises. My final day of work will be June 12 in compliance with my employment contract. My reason for departure is in light of a new employment contract that I signed with Lubricant Enterprises in Wisconsin. My resignation is equally in tandem with allowing me adequate time for preparation for my new job assignment in one month’s time.

During the course of the past ten years, I have highly enjoyed my tenure at Lantern Enterprises which has been mutually beneficial for all the employees. I wish to express my deep gratitude for the trust and confidence in service that you bestowed upon me during my tenure at the company. I equally express my appreciation for your excellent counsel and leadership which has been exemplary during my tenure at Lanterns Enterprises. I am highly appreciative of the immense skills I have gained in administration, leadership and communication from your organization, which will be of immense value in my future endeavors.

I consider myself highly fortunate in being employed at Lanterns Enterprises and I have grown to appreciate the essence of placing the customers’ interest first in a highly competitive business environment. To this end, kindly acknowledge this letter of resignation and I will do my best to ensure the completion of pending projects and a smooth hand over.
